Work experience

If you’re a young person wanting to find out more about a career in the arts then see below on the different opportunities available with us.

Work Experience

We love to support young people into their creative careers by offering valuable work experience opportunities. You can spend a week with the different departments in Severn Arts, get hands-on experience, and see where your passion lies. We have a limited number of placements available each year, so if you are interested in applying please contact Jude Wild at [email protected].

Apprenticeships

We know university isn’t the only path to success.

Apprenticeships are perfect if you’re eager to learn by doing. We worked with Heart of Worcestershire College who provide classroom-based training for apprentices.

We’re proud to have onboarded an apprentice in events management who learned the ropes while working on real projects. Check out Martha’s story and see what it’s like to be an apprentice with us.

Internships

We know how difficult it is for young people to bridge the gap between university and their first job, which is why we are dedicated to creating intern roles across our events. One of these continuing roles is Assistant Producer, which came from the Arches Festivals but has continued as Severn Arts took over Light Night Worcester 2024.

B-Experienced Internship Programme

Our B-Experienced Internships offer in-person, hybrid, and remote roles exclusively for students and recent graduates from the University of Birmingham. We’ve partnered with them to create unique opportunities, like being a Project Assistant for Pitch Up.

Check out Georgia’s journey and see what she got up to!

The latest B-Experienced Internship offered an incredible opportunity as a Project Coordinator for the Worcestershire Royal Hospital Urgent & Emergency Care Department Mural Project.

Support for Emerging Artists

Are you an up-and-coming artist?

As part of the Young Voices New Visions exhibition, we have created an emerging curator role. This helps those trying to get into the creative sector by providing them with hands-on experience during the exhibition.
